Building your Style DNA

What every step of the onboarding wizard does — and how it shapes recommendations.

Your Style DNA is the fingerprint Tailr styles you by. It's 13 steps, takes about 5 minutes, and every step is skippable except the first (name + gender). The more you fill in, the more useful Tailr is — but you can always come back and add depth later from Style DNA.

What each step does

  • About you — name + gender. Gender drives which reference photos you see and which catalog (men's vs women's) the AI pulls from. Required.
  • Style goals — high-level (look more put-together, look successful, dress for new context). Biases tone, not specifics.
  • Desired image — how you want to be perceived. Different from aesthetic — this is the signal you want your outfit to send.
  • Aesthetics — what you actually wear. Pick up to 5; overlap is fine and useful.
  • Colors — tap once to love, again to avoid, a third time to clear. “Avoid” is a hard rule — those colors won't appear in generated outfits.
  • Fits — up to 3 across 4 silhouette families. Pick your default; we mix when an occasion warrants it.
  • Body type — visual silhouettes; pick the closest. Influences proportion suggestions (e.g. longer rise on shorter torsos).
  • Brands — names you already love. Tailr biases toward them and similar-vibe brands.
  • Lifestyle — the contexts you most often dress for. Weights the occasion catalog.
  • Inspirations — who you look to for style cues (luxury designers, CEOs, athletes, etc.).
  • Occasions — refine the granular list (work, weddings, golf, beach…).
  • Closet — optional but powerful (see Adding items to your closet).
  • Reveal — Tailr writes a 2-sentence editorial summary of your Style DNA. Regenerable.

What changes when you tune it

Most-influential first: gender (which catalog), aesthetics (what gets composed), avoid colors (what gets excluded), desired image (the editorial tone), and occasions (which contexts are well-fit). Body type and fit are less visible but tune proportion. Brands and inspirations steer where in the catalog we draw from.

Tip

Want a clean reset? Re-run the guided wizard anytime. Or change one field at a time inline from your profile — Tailr re-tunes immediately on the next compose.
